Film: Medical Renaissance - the Secret Code
Press Release:
Medical Renaissance-The Secret Code is an engaging, moving documentary quickly drawing in the audience to the common, frustrating medical dilemmas of the depression of two of its three main characters, Judy and Kevin, and the severe migraines of Rae. 40% of the U.S. population suffers from long-standing depression. Ultimately the film casts a message of hope and practical ideas for those wrestling with chronic medical problems of all kinds.
Conventional drug treatment has failed Judy, Rae and Kevin; two of them have continued to work despite their debilitating problems. The Medical Renaissance audience gets to know them quickly in tightly depicted intimate interviews. The audience then is drawn in closely and sometimes grippingly to their two weeks of intense treatment at a holistic health center. The emotional ups and downs of Kevin, Rae and Judy during this time are unsparing; as the conclusion nears, however, the long-term outlook is hopeful.
Set in summer 2007 amid the pastoral, scenic tranquility of a Midwest treatment center, Medical Renaissance features a cast of well-respected “stars” in the holistic health field including Drs. Caroline Myss, Belleruth Naparstek, Gladys McGarey, Carl Hammerschlag, Roger Cady and several world-renown researchers.
The creative medical force behind the film is C. Norman Shealy, M.D., Ph.D. a conventionally trained (Massachusetts General Hospital and Duke University) neurosurgeon with an impressive professional resume. Over several decades, he has treated non-surgically over 30,000 chronically disabled patients with an 85% success rate at his facility, the Shealy Wellness Center. Several of these patients appear in the film; some have remained healthy for as long as eleven years. Their original complaints included migraine headaches, depression, hypertension, and chronic pain from many causes.
After viewing the popular film, What the Bleep Do We Know?, Dr. Shealy felt compelled to answer that question. Medical Renaissance: The Secret Code, a professionally produced documentary, provides audiences hope and practical resources for resolving their personal health dilemmas. Not the least of its messages, Medical Renaissance reveals its “secret code” for a life lived well. The movie will debut at 5:00 p.m. Friday, February 22, 2008 at the Long Beach Health Freedom Expo. The world premier will take place at 7:30 p.m. April 5 at The Springfield Landmarks Trust/ Gillioz Theater.

C. Norman Shealy, M.D., Ph.D.DREAM POWER-CAN OUR DREAMS MAKE US WELL? By Mary Jo Grant, SterlingHouse Publisher, Pittsburgh. $17.95, available at www.selfhealthsystems.com.
Mary Jo is a friend as well as a graduate of Holos University Graduate Seminary. Her book is the culmination of her personal experience of over 500 dreams, which assisted her in recovering from a 7 year bout of chronic pain which had defied all that conventional medicine had to offer. This inspiring book includes 41 of her most powerful dreams. I have often said that 10 dream experts would give you at least 12 interpretations of a given dream. Mary Jo is truly a dream expert whose dream interpretations were transformational!Interestingly, Mary Jo developed remarkable waking dreams, spontaneous imagery that led her to recovery. I am most grateful to have played a small part in her journey, which began with our Biogenics® training program. Of course, her development of powerful archetypal patterns is itself unique and one of the reasons her work is so important. DREAM POWER is a true story of the benefits of the holistic approach to all illness. The results of her dream work provide an example of the transformative power of the mind-body-spirit. Indeed she became her own therapist. Now she is continuing as a spiritual inspirational speaker. Her work suggests in-depth Jungian insight, truly guided by her own wise guides. If you have never benefited from your own dreams, I urge you to read this book and use it as a catalyst for your own journey to Individuation. In many respects this is a story of self-therapy at its finest.I quote just one of her poetic dreams:"A wise One beckons me off my path. He tells me that he and his friends are helping to build my spiritual house. He says that I may come in the house but that it is not quite finished.I enter through a door marked Wisdom under an arch called Protection. The floors are Faith covered with Humility. The walls are Pure Intuition covered with Discernment. The roof is woven of Love and Integrity-A large plant grows in the middle of the room. Three large white roses are in bloom. They are Fulfillment, Health and Hope-There is a balcony all around called Vision and Insight. This image is, I believe, a classic work of the Holy Spirit, and I believe that this building of my spiritual house was crucial and timely in my healing."I encourage you to read, enjoy and build your own Spiritual House!

THIS YEAR
This year, I will keep Christmas as a light of hope for my heart, A holy sanctuary for my soul, A quiet blessing for my spirit. This year, I will keep Christmas far from frantic malls, Safe from hectic profit schemes, Apart from secular hype and stress. This year, I will keep Christmas content as baby slumber, Silent as angel presence, Peaceful as constant prayer. This year, I will keep Christmas as Emmanuel, God with me. Alive in me. This year, I will keep Christmas by being kept in Love, Peace, and Joy...

Healing and Wholeness
John Sanford, who was a Jungian analyst and Episcopal priest, believed that sometimes our illness is an integral part of our individuation (becoming whole). He thought that some illnesses persisted until we have been led to a spiritual destination or goal. Then, they are alleviated in such a way that, as a result OF OUR SEARCH FOR HEALING, we become entirely new and more whole people. He did not say that we would be in perfect health-that we would not need new knees or medical intervention but that we would be more whole. I think that we sometimes have a narrow view of what wholeness means and what healing means. Does curing mean wholeness? I would like to know what you think.
